What Happened and Why It Matters

In July 2025, the UK government raised the skill and salary thresholds for sponsorship and changed the Immigration Salary List and Temporary Shortage List.
Many entry-level and medium-skilled roles that used to qualify for sponsorship suddenly no longer do.
Thousands of international Graduate Visa Holders and Dependent-Graduate Visa Holders who moved here in good faith now face cancelled offers and uncertainty.

We’re calling for one fair fix: retrospective protection

In July 2025, the UK government raised the skill and salary thresholds for sponsorship and changed the Immigration Salary List & Temporary Shortage List. Many entry-level and medium-skilled roles that used to qualify for sponsorship suddenly no longer do.
Thousands of international graduates who moved here in good faith now face cancelled offers and uncertainty

Our Demands to the UK Government

Retrospective Protection for all Graduate Visa Holders and Dependent Graduate Visa Holders

We call on the Home Office to introduce retrospective protection for all Graduate Visa Holders and Dependent Graduate Visa Holders who, before 22 July 2025, had a written job offer or were employed in a role that would have been sponsorable under the old immigration rules. They must be allowed to Switch into the Skilled Worker visa using the pre-July 2025 sponsorship criteria

Fair Transitional Arrangements for Employers and Workers

The government must introduce clear, fair, and transparent transitional guidance for both employers and graduates, including

Legal Certainty and Human Fairness

We demand that all future immigration changes be implemented prospectively, not retrospectively.

Need Help?

The Answers to All Your Questions

Many Graduate Visa Holders and Dependent Graduate Visa Holders are uncertain about how the July 2025 immigration changes affect their jobs and future in the UK.

Most Common Questions

This FAQ explains the situation, your rights, and what steps you can take to stay informed and involved.

Does this campaign reopen visa routes?

No — we seek a narrow, time-limited fix.

What should I do if my offer has been withdrawn?
  • Ask your employer to confirm in writing that the withdrawal was due to the new sponsorship rules.

  • Submit your details via our “Share Your Story” form — anonymised if preferred.

  • Stay informed through our updates and legal guidance page

Is this campaign anti-government or political?

No. This campaign is non-partisan and policy-focused.
We respect the government’s right to set immigration policy but believe in fair implementation and protection for those already affected by sudden rule changes.

Who qualifies?

We propose eligibility for:

  • Graduate visa holders who had a written job offer dated before 22 July 2025 for a role that was sponsorable under the previous rules; or

  • Dependent Graduate Visa Holders  who had a written job offer dated before 22 July 2025 for a role that was sponsorable under the previous rules
  • Those who were already employed in such a role and whose employer had indicated an intent to sponsor them before the rule change.

Evidence could include:

  • Offer letters, emails, or employment contracts

  • Payslips or HR correspondence

  • Written communication confirming sponsorship intent

How can I take action right now?
  • Sign the petition calling for retrospective protection.

  • Contact your MP (use our template email).

  • Share your story to help humanise the issue.

  • Donate to help us with legal support and campaign costs.

  • Share on social media with the hashtag #SaveOurVisas

What will happen if nothing changes?
  • Thousands of graduates and Dependent-Graduates Visa Holders will lose lawful work opportunities.
  • Employers will lose trained, skilled staff.
  • The UK’s reputation as a reliable destination for international talent may decline.
  • Many could face forced relocation despite years of contribution and integration.
  •
What does “retrospective protection” mean?

It means creating a temporary exception for people who made life and career decisions based on the rules that existed before 22 July 2025.
Specifically, those who already had job offers or were employed in sponsorable roles before that date should be allowed to apply for sponsorship under the old criteria.
This protects them from being punished for policy changes they couldn’t have predicted.
